  32. The I/O structure of the new SPARC processor in these computers is a little
  33. bit different, so the kernal driver needed changing.

  35. At the outset, Sun management said that these two machines will only run 
  36. Solaris 2.x.  E-mail/postings were flying around the internal Sun network,
  37. saying that a few minor changes to the driver(s) would fix the problem of
  38. loading 4.1.x onto these machines.

  40. Management got wind of it...said the following...(paraphrased)

  42. Whomever discusses changing the OS to allow Solaris 1.x to run on these
  43. machines, or change code to make it work, will be fired.

  45. Management has decreed that these two platforms WILL not run 4.1.x, ever.

  47. Guess what, we aren't buying those machines or suggesting that our customers
  48. get them.
