- if you are running irix 4.0.* (i.e. the x environment) this should work
- for programs which just utilize X for graphics. programs which use
- gl for graphics will not show up on an x-terminal.

- to verify the connection attempt to run /usr/bin/X11/xclock (a plain
- vanilla x client) and see if it shows up. it should. if it doesn't
- then something isn't setup correctly. use echo $DISPLAY to see what
- it is set to as a first step.

- a gl program.
