I'm sorry Michael, but it seems I am not the only one to have missed your more
enlightening reply on Quicktime in comp.sys.sgi.graphics. I read the SGI newsgroups every day, so I am not sure how this has been bypassed, as it is
of significant interest to myself and my group. Would it be possible for
you to repost this article, as I am sure many people would be very grateful.
The fanfare announcement of the Quicktime port sometime ago was enough to push us that little bit further and purchase some Indigos here. We are a little worried at the current silence...
Would it be possible for you to outline the levels of integration of Quicktime into IRIX and its supporting applications that are being planned ?
- Will files be directly exchangable between Macs and IRIX ?
- Will there be support under ImageVision for the Image Compression facilities ?
- Will PICTs now be a supported file format ( and in ImageVision ?)
- I presume there will be support in Showcase.
- Will the programming interface/library be standard, or part of the developers
option ?
- Will it be possible (even feasable) to show movies on remote X displays ?
