  11. Hello SGI users:
  12.     Does anyone know where I can find a detailed description of the
  13. file format of the SGI image files? This appears to be a closely
  14. guarded secret. Plenty of books will tell you about TIFF, PCX
  15. etc. but the SGI hot line will not divulge the format of
  16. something.rgb. I have full support on my machine but all the
  17. support line could do was point me to some source code examples
  18. in 4Dgifts. With a few weeks time, many of the routines call
  19. each other, I might finally deduce what is the meaning of byte
  20. 0, what is stored at the four byte field beginning at byte 12
  21. etc. etc. It sure would be nice to have an explicit description
  22. so I could begin my real work today!
