- I have been trying to extract Landsat satellite image data
- from an 8mm tape that originated from a company called
- EOSAT. I am using am using a SGI R4000 and IRIX release
- 4.0.5. I have had no success using TAR, Restore, BRU
- or CPIO. There should be several separate files on tape; an
- ascii header and then possibly a number of (I think) binary
- files (possibly each with their own header file).

- Try ansitape. I know that DTED & DFAD tapes from DMA are stored
- in that format (like on a vax - yuck!). I think you also will
- need to use /dev/tapens. ansitape came with my 4.0.5 but don't
- know which subsystem (eoe[12].whatever).
-
- Hope that solves your problem.
