  41. John, I think your confidence is misplaced. My S3 is always set to update when
  42. I press the System button. My machine also slows down occasionally for while.
  43. The more CPU intensive your activities are, the longer the slow period. This
  44. is a separate phenomena to the 'Updating Lists' slowdown. I have always assumed
  45. , as does steve@geosys.co.uk, that the S3 is performing some sort of garbage
  46. collection/memory defragmentation.

  48. On a similar subject, I have seen my S3 switch itself on for no apparent
  49. reason. I think this has been mentioned before, but has anyone spotted any
  50. pattern to this? More importantly, is there anyone who thinks their S3 does not
  51. do this? I have seen it happen to several S3s, and I have a nasty feeling that
  52. if they aren't set to auto power off they will stay on.
