- Ok, I'm looking for the following end result:
-
- My client PCs must be able to access Netware, Windows
- for Workgroups, and an AS/400 over token ring, all
- concurrently.
-
- The test configuration I am using is a PS/2 Model 56SLC2
- with an IBM Token Ring Adapter 16/4. The token ring
- speed is 16 Mbps.
-
- I have attempted two configurations, both which look good
- on paper but fail. I'll explain the failures as well.
-
- 1)
-
- My first attempt was to first install Windows for Workgroups
- with Netware connectivity, then to hack out PROTOCOL.INI and
- CONFIG.SYS to accomodate IBM LAN Support 1.3. I came out with
- the following, basicly:
-
- CONFIG.SYS
- device=c:\windows\protman.dos /i:c:\windows
- device=c:\windows\ibmtok.dos
- device=c:\windows\workgrp.sys
- device=c:\windows\msipx.sys
- device=c:\lsp\dxma0mod.sys
- device=c:\lsp\dxme0mod.sys
-
- AUTOEXEC.BAT
- c:\windows\net start
- c:\windows\route
- c:\windows\msipx
- c:\windows\netx
- c:\pcs\startrtr
-
- Well, this works fine and well, except that when NETX is
- executed, I get the message "A File Server cannot be found."
- Referring to my Sniffer tells me that the client is sending
- out requests for the nearest server, and that my two Netware 3.11
- servers are responding. It seems the client is ignoring the
- response.
-
- Since this didn't work, I tried a second configuration:
-
- 2)
-
- I decided I would use Novell's ODINSUP. I thought this would
- be great because I'd be able to use my LWP for DOS, too :-)!
- So the story goes,
-
- CONFIG.SYS
- device=c:\windows\protman.dos /i:c:\windows
- device=c:\windows\workgrp.sys
- device=c:\lsp\dxma0mod.sys
- device=c:\lsp\dxme0mod.sys
-
- AUTOEXEC.BAT
- c:\wkstn\lsl
- c:\wkstn\token
- c:\wkstn\route
- c:\wkstn\odinsup
- c:\wkstn\ipxodi
- c:\wkstn\netx
- c:\windows\net start
- c:\pcs\startrtr
-
- This seemed to work great at first. Each command completed
- successfully. I could access my Netware servers and all
- functions of Windows for Workgroups worked. STARTRTR indicated
- that it had contacted my AS/400.
-
- But then, I started up Rumba/400 (this is why I need PC Support/400).
- When I told Rumba to connect, the system locked up, mouse and all.
-
-
- Could someone please help me? I'm just about at wits end.
