  15.         I just brought up an AMI EZ-FLEX 486DX/50 (not DX2) server with
  16.         two ne3200 cards installed. We run IPX, TCP and EtherTalk on
  17.         this server, but we ran into some problems, and I am hoping you
  18.         can help.

  20.         For some reason, when I load ATPS, the ne3200 card decides to
  21.         stop receiving packets - and believes that it is still
  22.         broadcasting (though it isn't). This information I learned from
  23.         monitor.nlm and "track on." After a while, I'll get the "LAN
  24.         receive buffer limit reached" message which eventually makes the
  25.         server nose-dive. I don't think it is the ATPS that is causing
  26.         the problem, though. I have heard *rumors* that some EISA
  27.         adapters cannot handle multiple protocols, but surely the
  28.         strongly supported NE3200 is not in this class.

  30.         I have tried several different options including:
  31.  
  32.                 set auto register memory above 16 megabytes = off
  33.                 Increasing the maximum physical packet size to
  34.                         1530 (which fixes the no ECB avail count)
  35.                 Increasing minimum and maximum packet receive buffers
  36.                 Original ATPS without patches
  37.                 Original ATPS with patches
  38.                 New ATPS (no patches exist beyond this version, that
  39.                         I know of)
  40.                 NE3200s in enhanced mode
  41.                 NE3200s in interrupts only mode
  42.  
  43.         I really feel that memory is being corrupted somehow, or I am
  44.         having some other problem and this is a side-effect. I installed 2 
  45.     Western Digital Elite/16 ISA cards in the same server and haven't 
  46.     had this problem.

  51.                 Novell NetWare v3.11
  52.                 32 MB of RAM
  53.                 DL2000
  54.                 2 NE3200 (Rev H)
  55.                 Adaptec 1742 controller with an HP 2.4 GB disk
  56.                         (running in enhanced mode)

  63.         Can you think of anything I am missing?

  65.     If you have a similar configuration running (Motherboard,
  66.     protocols, software), I would be interested in hearing
  67.     that this works *some* place.
