  15. I'm trying to re-install the driver and accompanying software
  16. for our DoveFax modem on one of our NeXTs since upgrading the
  17. OS to 3.0.  Running Installer.App on the original pkg file on
  18. the floppy seems to do the right thing in terms of copying the
  19. driver files into place.
  20.  
  21. But the problem occurs when I use the print manager to try to
  22. add the modem.  I bring up print manager and select "Fax Modems".
  23. The fax modem panel comes up blank.  I select "Create" and the
  24. Create Panel comes up.  I use their suggested name: "Local_Fax_Modem"
  25. (which is what the fax modem was named before).  I use the create
  26. panel to configure the modem to my liking, then when I click "OK",
  27. I get an error panel that says the modem already exists.  The
  28. create panel then disappears, and the new entry never appears
  29. in the list of fax modems.

  31. I have used niutil -destroy to manually remove the entries referring
  32. to entry this from the netinfo database.  I have also removed the
  33. old spool directory: "/usr/spool/NeXT/Local_Fax_Modem" but I still
  34. get the "already exists" error message.  I have also tried creating
  35. the modem with another name (which works) then attempted to use
  36. "modify" to name the modem what I really want, but this also doesn't
  37. work--same error message.

  39. It'd be possible (but major-ly inconvenient) for me to use a different
  40. name.  I'd like to know what needs to be done (e.g. what entry from
  41. what file or netinfo database needs to be removed or what directory
  42. needs to be deleted) in order for the print manager to no longer
  43. think that "Local_Fax_Modem" already exists.  I'd appreciate any
  44. pointers (checked the FAQs and recent articles but did not find
  45. any helpful information).  Thank you.
