  13. Upon upgrading to GK 1.2.7, a disturbing problem appeared in my IIsi (5/80,
  14. 8MB VM, OS7.0.1/tuneup, Daystar ComboCache): After startup, the Apple menu
  15. icon was missing its right side, i.e., from the stem to the "bite" was
  16. white.  The entire apple reappears when I click on it but disappears again
  17. after I let off the mouse button.  Launching (seemingly) any application
  18. restores the Apple to its pristine state, but after working for a while,
  19. the system color palette goes screwy, leaving the Desktop and all icons
  20. looking somewhat bleached.

  22. This problem did not occur when Gatekeeper Aid alone was loaded.

  24. I did some preliminary poking around and found that if any one of the
  25. Stuffit SpaceSaver, Engine, or Magic Menu Extensions/CDEVs was not loaded,
  26. the problem (with the Apple icon, at least) seemed to disappear.  (The
  27. Viewer Engine (another Stuffit extension) seemed not to enter into the
  28. equation.)

  30. Despite my initial findings, I am not certain I have found the root cause
  31. of this problem.  What I know for sure: When I installed GK 1.2.7, the
  32. problem appeared; when I removed it, the problem disappeared.

  34. I would be interested to know if anyone else, especially Stuffit Space
  35. Saver users, have run into this or any other problems concomitant with
  36. their installation of GK 1.2.7.  Please post if you think your response
  37. would be of general interest.
