- Something VERY strange has happened to one of my Syquest cartridges...
-
- I'm getting the message "The disk "Pictures" cannot be used, because it
- cannot be found" whenever I try to mount a particular Syquest drive.
- The odd thing about this is that the cartridge in the Syquest drive is
- NOT named "Pictures." This is the name of the cartridge that was
- PREVIOUSLY in the drive. Somehow this cartridge is convinced its
- another cartridge entirely!
-
- Could that old name have gotten slapped into the volume header
- of the new disk somehow?
-
- I've tried rebooting but this doesn't help. In fact... if I reboot
- with the cartridge in and spinning, I get the sad Mac ascending chords
- and something that looks like a messed up Macsbug window. Can't
- rebuild the desktop on a disk that won't mount.
-
- I'm amazed that a disk with what looks like a bad file system would
- crash my Mac. And I'm amazed that I can trash a disk by just copying
- files back and forth between disks.
-
- Sigh... any ideas on how to correct this? There's a good bit of
- data on this cartridge that I want (that's how I back up stuff).
