  13. Something VERY strange has happened to one of my Syquest cartridges...
  14.  
  15. I'm getting the message "The disk "Pictures" cannot be used, because it
  16. cannot be found" whenever I try to mount a particular Syquest drive.
  17. The odd thing about this is that the cartridge in the Syquest drive is
  18. NOT named "Pictures."  This is the name of the cartridge that was
  19. PREVIOUSLY in the drive.  Somehow this cartridge is convinced its
  20. another cartridge entirely!

  22. Could that old name have gotten slapped into the volume header
  23. of the new disk somehow?

  25. I've tried rebooting but this doesn't help.  In fact... if I reboot
  26. with the cartridge in and spinning, I get the sad Mac ascending chords
  27. and something that looks like a messed up Macsbug window.  Can't
  28. rebuild the desktop on a disk that won't mount.

  30. I'm amazed that a disk with what looks like a bad file system would
  31. crash my Mac.  And I'm amazed that I can trash a disk by just copying
  32. files back and forth between disks.

  34. Sigh... any ideas on how to correct this?  There's a good bit of
  35. data on this cartridge that I want (that's how I back up stuff).
