- I have a Deskwriter C connected to an SE/30, and I have to say that the
- greatest advantage to the HP is Background Printing. Your productivity
- is increased tremendously through its use. I've printed full page color
- documents from Photoshop. They take less than a minute to spool to disk.
- After that the Print Monitor takes care of everything and doesn't take
- up much CPU time. It's almost as if it were not running.
- Another advantage to the HP is the noise, or lack thereof. Except for
- the sound of the motor, you can't hear a thing. Your computer fan's
- probably louder than the HP. The quiet is especially noticible if you're
- upgrading from something like an Imagewriter.
- Also, the print quality is great. HP printouts on good paper are almost
- indistinguishable from laser printouts. Grayscale images are printed
- easily and are dithered beautifully. Printouts at 'Normal' setting are
- just about as good as at 'Best.'
-
- Besides all of this, I think the HP's cheaper than the SW anyway.
