  17.     According to who?  What is the basis for this alert?  Has anyone reputable 
  18. confirmed it?  And even if someone has just what are we supposed to do about it 
  19. anyway?  This message provides NO useful information.

  21.     Please don't pass on unconfirmed rumors about new viruses.  If 
  22. there is detailed information available then provide it.  Otherwise stay quiet. 
  23. If you have reason to believe you've discovered a new virus (which I gather 
  24. from your post you haven't) then you need to privately discuss the possibility 
  25. with local gurus and if they agree with you (or if you are the local guru) then 
  26. you need to talk with the appropriate anti-virus experts.  On the Internet that 
  27. means particularly John Norstad (j-norstad@nwu.edu) and Chris Johnson whose 
  28. E-mail address I don't have handy but is probably in the GateKeeper docs.
  29. If they confirm the virus, then they will send a message to 
  30. comp.sys.mac.announce.  Otherwise all that happens is useless 
  31. paranoia gets spread.
