  19. The SuperCard to HyperCard conversion utility is called Homeward and is from
  20. Heizer Software, it's not shipping yet but is expected to ship in mid-to-late
  21. Feb.

  42. Apple to Produce Future Versions of HyperCard

  44. CUPERTINO, California--January 27, 1993--As part of a continually
  45. increasing commitment by Apple Computer, Inc. to world-class development
  46. tools, Apple and Claris Corp. today announced they will move product
  47. development of future versions of HyperCard into Apple's Developer Tools
  48. organization in the Apple Developer Group.
  49.     Apple plans to coordinate HyperCard development efforts with its
  50. AppleScript project to give Apple a unified approach to, and a competitive
  51. advantage in, the emerging area of next-generation software-developer
  52. tools.  AppleScript is an advanced scripting technology for integrating
  53. applications to create custom solutions and to automate routine tasks.
  54. It is scheduled for release in the first half of 1993.
  55.     Apple and Claris believe that this strategy assures the best future
  56. for HyperCard and its users.  With HyperCard as a strategic cornerstone of
  57. Apple's development-tools strategy, developers and users can look forward
  58. to significant investments in future tools for the HyperCard development
  59. community.
  60.     Claris will continue to market, sell, and support the current version
  61. of HyperCard until Apple ships the next version of HyperCard.  At that
  62. time, HyperCard will become an Apple-labeled product and Apple will assume
  63. worldwide responsibility for support of the HyperCard product.  Apple will
  64. ensure a smooth upgrade path to future HyperCard releases to both current
  65. HyperCard users, as well as new customers who buy HyperCard from Claris.
  66.     "HyperCard perfectly complements Apple's portfolio of developer
  67. tools," said Kirk Loevner, vice president of Apple's Developer Group.
  68. "HyperCard and next-generation development technologies such as AppleScript
  69. underscore Apple's long-standing commitment to excellent authoring and
  70. high-level programming tools."

  73. worldwide to support development tools, developers, and authors, which
  74. makes this an important step forward for HyperCard."
  75.     HyperCard was transferred from Apple to Claris in late 1991.  Since
  76. then Claris has released HyperCard 2.1 with QuickTime extensions, and the
  77. HyperCard Player and the HyperCard Developers Licensing Kit.  There are
  78. currently more than 100,000 active corporate, education, and commercial
  79. HyperCard developers; three million active users; and the quantity and
  80. quality of HyperCard applications are at an all-time high.
