- The way I heard it, it's only ok if the macs share a common ground.
- If they are grounded separately in the wrong environment, then ground
- loop currents can develop, causing serious problems (like burned out
- boards). So it may work if they are plugged into different lines, but
- it might toast your Macs. The only way you can be sure you're safe is
- to plug them both into the same powerstrip; or, if you have an
- otherwise unused AC line, plug both into that.
