- Hello,
-
- I have been given a Mac+, 1MB Ram, no HD. This mac doesn't work. It does power up, but I don't get any normal Mac display. It gives me 4-6
- very wide white bars on a black background. After a short period of time, it
- gets some black specks in the white bars, and makes some noise like a power
- saw cutting through a 2X4. I have the following questions:
-
- 1- When I was first given this, one of the SIMM sockets was broken.
- Because my place of work produces PCs, we had the equipment to
- replace it and I did. Is there any possibility that some of the
- traces going to the memory module were damaged? Can anybody give
- me a pin-out of the Simm socket (ie Simm module pin X goes to IC
- A pin B, etc.)?
-
- 2- If it is nescessay to replace the logic board, can I use an SE
- logic board instead of the Mac Plus motherboard, and gain a slot
- in the process? Shreve systems charges the same for a Mac Plus logic
- board as for an SE logic Board. Are the analog boards the same?
-
- I've been using PCs up until now, and would like to learn my way
- around system 7/7.1 as well. In addition, I have a Laserwriter that I use with
- my PC, and that I could use with the Mac. Sorry for any ignorant questions,
- but I am completely unfamiliar with the hardware on the Mac, and the Larry
- Pina books don't seem to cover this problem. Please reply by e_mail. Thank
- you.
