- Yes... but... There are a couple of factors to check first. Do you have enough
- power available in the stock IIsi power supply. Do you have the space
- available. If the answer to these questions are yes then... Yes you can!
-
- You will need to either purchase, contruct or have constructed a replacement
- cable for the 50 conductor ribbon cable currently connected to your internal
- drive. This cable will need a third DIP connector attached in-line for the new
- drive. If a second Power supply connector isn't included within the case (It
- is in my IIci!), you will need to get one of these also. I say to get a
- replacement because if you ever need your IIsi serviced, you will need to
- convert it back to the original condition, or you Apple Dealer my refuse to
- work on it!
-
- To install the drive, you should figure a way to mount it so it will not move
- internally when the computer is moved. Place jumpers on the address lines of
- the new drive to set it to something other than zero (first drives address) or
- seven (the Macs address). Remove any "Terimnation" resistor packs from the new
- drive. Now install the new drive to the inside connector of the new cable
- (Make sure the cable is alligned (pin 1 to pin 1), and the power connector.
-
- Your new drive should now be ready for formating. Remember, if after doing this, your Power Supply burns out, Apples NOT gonna fix it!
-
- Good Luck
