- That's certainly the case with the NeXT, there are a lot of new apps in
- development, etc. The thing that bothers me here is that they are typically
- non-standard applications by newborn companies. PasteUp is supposed to be
- a great DTP program, I hear - but personally, I would have rather seen
- Quark or PageMaker ported over to the machine first. There are some major
- packages available from major companies: WordPerfect, Adobe Illustrator,
- and Frame are the biggies, but IMHO, the lack of these drives away those
- worried about updates [like me].

- We have the Apps out on the net, but they do boot locally. All of our
- machines have 16 megabytes, but I have used those with 32 before. A lot
- of the more processor intensive things [like intense math] still run the
- NeXTs into the ground. I feel they often don't do things as fast as the
- Quadras can -- simply because Apple and the other companies have to
- streamline to get their programs to work on lower end machines like the
- Mac Classic.
