- I'm not so sure that this is necessary. There are excellent games that run
- full-screen in 8-bit (or 4-bit) mode, and "cooperate with the OS," not in the
- sense that I can switch them in and out under MultiFinder, but certainly with
- other programs running, and without rebooting. Some examples:
-
- Ben Haller's Solarian II
- Andrew Welch's Maelstrom
- Velocity's Spectre
- Psygnosis' Lemmings
- PacMan (the author's name escapes me)
- Casady & Greene's Crystal Quest, Sky Shadow, & Mission Starlight
- Spectrum Holobyte's Vette
-
- Obviously, excellent arcade games can be done in concert with the Mac OS.
- My perception is that many of the game companies simply don't
- care about the Mac. That's OK; I won't burden them with my money.
-
- Tangent: I played a bit of Castle Wolfenstein on a friend's PC. It reminded
- me so much of Spectre! You go around the castle (grid) and shoot enemy
- soldiers (enemy tanks) and restore your energy by running over food (recharge
- grids). The grpahics were different, though :-).
