-
- In my experience, the Daystar works flawlessly. I wouldn't hesitate getting
- the Daystar because of any incompatibility problems.
-
- That being said, you might evaluate the prices for the upgrade vs. accelerator
- and factor in your own plans for the future. The Daystar unit is portable
- and will work on any machine (provided you get the universal model), and
- probably any that you might buy in the future. And Daystar will swap you for
- the proper adapter at no charge. Further, you can always upgrade the Daystar
- easily and incrementally, simply for the difference in list price (or less if
- they're having a special).
-
- The LCIII upgrade doesn't really offer such flexibility. However, if you
- don't plan to get out of the LC for some time, keep in mind that the LCIII
- board will have a not only a faster processor but also a wider data bus--_and_
- it's straight from the mother company. But then, there's always the old Apple
- "gotcha" involved. As is happening more and more frequently, Apple is
- releasing products with subtle but sometimes important flaws, almost as if
- they never got a chance to finish things completely. I don't know if the
- LCIII will involve any such problems, but keep in mind that your LCII works
- fine right now, and the Daystar is completely transparent to a good working
- Apple system. That may be a major factor. Also, the Daystar is completely
- removable and turns your system back into its old self if need be, and has a
- 30 day no questions asked money back guarantee. Can the LCIII upgrade say
- that?
