- I want to buy software to do flyers, short manuals and newsletters.
- I have been using word 5.1, but I don't like the way it handles large
- tiff and eps files. Would a low end dtp product like personal press
- or publish it easy handle what I want to do, or do I need to use
- Something like Pagemaker or QuarkXPress? On the low end, which is
- better personal press or publish it easy? Are there others I should
- consider? Thanks in advance for any advice.

- I have Personal Press 2.0, but it's not in front of me right now, so I can't
- answer all of your questions. However, I can warn you that it does have bugs,
- some of which are rather serious. On at least 2 occasions, it actually lost
- pieces of my document. I have since learned to be *very* careful with it. I
- make frequent backup copies of my document, just in case. And I no longer type
- ahead while doing any file I/O, because I was doing that one of the times it
- lost stuff. I don't remember about the other time(s).
-
- It has other less serious but still annoying bugs. Its screen updates are
- often sloppy and/or incomplete. Character, line, and paragraph formatting are
- flaky and often unpredictable, although persistence on my part has always been
- able to overcome the problem.
-
- Personal Press is a nicely featured program, and it does about everything that
- a low-end publisher needs. I just wish that Aldus had finished debugging it
- before they shipped it. If I had to buy another package, I would take a close
- look at any alternatives.
