- The Toshiba T4400C has a much better screen than the Compaq. It's 9.5"
- diagonal so provides a bigger display. The only drawback is that it
- has neither contrast nor brightness controls. But I never felt that the
- screen needed adjustments. The screen displays 256 colors out of a
- possible 180,000 and it is Paradise compatible. I've seen three T4400C's
- and none of them has any frozen pixels.
-
- The IBM ThinkPad 700C has an even bigger screen (10.5"). However, it can
- only display 256 colors of out a possible 4096 colors. The screen has
- both contrast and brightness although I only have the adjust the
- brightness once in a while. The contrast is very good. The video
- controller is compatible with many other PS/2 models and comes with a
- VESA driver. A 256 color Windows driver is available upon request from
- IBM.
-
- I've had the worst luck with the Compaq. Had 4 of them and they all had
- one or more frozen pixels and one had a locked hard drive. :)
