  21. The PowerBook 170 has a monochrome active matrix screen giving fantastic
  22. CRT-quality viewing angle, contrast and refresh rate.  Great for several
  23. people looking at the screen simultaneously.

  25. The PowerBook 180 has a similar active matrix screen but with 16 shades
  26. of grey.  The vertical viewing angle suffers somewhat compared to the
  27. 170, but the horizontal viewing angle is as good.  I'm not joking when I
  28. say it's still clear and sharp approaching 180 degrees.

  30. The speed of the 180 Active Matrix acreen is good enough to display
  31. QuickTime movies in grey scale.

  33. Apple will be releasing a colour PowerBook, the 165c, on Feb 10th costing
  34. less than the 180 because it'll use a passive matrix colour screen.  (In
  35. effect it seems that passive matrix colour is cheaper than active matrix
  36. grey scale!)
  37. Sometime around July they're apparently releasing an active matrix colour
  38. PowerBook costing considerably more.
