  42. The IEEE Student Branch at the University of Saskatchewan in association
  43. with:
  44.         Hewlett Packard, Corvallis Division

  49. will be organizing and sponsoring the First Annual International HP-48
  50. Programmers Competition.
  51.  
  52. Four distinct and separate categories will take place:
  53.  
  54. 1) Secondary Educational Facilities (High School)
  55. 2) Open - User RPL Only
  56. 3) Open - User and System RPL Only
  57. 4) Open - Assembly, User, and System RPL only.
  58.  
  59. This competition is open worldwide.  You are encouraged to enter as many 
  60. categories as possible. (see 6 below)

  62. Competition Rules (short version)

  65. 1.  Submissions must be the author's own works.  Submissions based on, 
  66.     including, of using others code will be disqualified.  Submissions
  67.     must include a list of any text references that are used, or human
  68.     references (teachers/professors/friends/co-workers) that are used.
  69.  
  70. 2.  Any tools can be used in order to make the System or Assembly
  71.     sections of submissions.  (ie SASM, RPLCOMP, <-RPL->, Class,
  72.     Star ...)  This code must clearly identify what tool (and tool
  73.     version) was used.  If you need access to a development tool contact
  74.     the below address.  I can tell you where to look.

  76. 3.  Submissions must include all source code, and an executable. 
  77.     Submissions must be in electronic form.  (either via email or
  78.     smail on floppy disk)

  82. 4.  Problems will be posted/emailed/smailed out approximately the
  83.     beginning of March.  Submissions will be due in two weeks.
  84.     Submissions recieved after this date will not be eligible for
  85.     the contest.  IEEE Student Branch is not responsible for lost or
  86.     misdirected entries.

  93. 5.  System RPL code must use only SUPPORTED ENTRIES on a rev E machine.
  94.  
  95. 6.  High School Students are encouraged to enter additional catagories as
  96.     well as catagory 1.  Submissions for catagory one are eligible in 
  97.     catagories two, three, and four.  Submissions for catagory two are
  98.     eligible in catagories three and four.  And submissions for catagory
  99.     three are eligible in catagory four.  You are asked only to submit
  100.     one entry per catagory.

  102. 7.  Judging will be done be done on a totaly objective scale.  Some
  103.     mathmatical rating scale based on size or speed (or a combination
  104.     of both) will be included with the problem.

  106. 8.  Problems and judging formula will be selected from a pannel of
  107.     judges from the designers of the HP-48, from professional programmers
  108.     of the HP-48, and HP-48 enthusiasts.
  109.  
  110. 9.  If you wish to be surface mailed the problem, please respond to this
  111.     notice by March 1, 1993.
