- I think that the older host adapters will work, but that they only won't be
- able to deliver the performance that the drive offers you. Since SCSI uses
- an interlocked handshake scheme, the asynchronous transfer rate will be
- dictated by the slower side of the transfer. With an ICD Advantage Plus ST
- my Quantum hard drive does no better than 550 kB/sec, while newer adapters
- can certainly double that (though this does not necessarily double system
- performance for disk bound applications; seek time and latency dominate
- data access time for random disk access).

- Some SCSI devices (eg. a Wangtek 5150ES) have problems with the very narrow
- (60-70 nsec with my 5150ES) ACK pulses provided by the ICD Advantage Plus ST
- adapter, but this can be easily corrected by a small modification to the host
- adapter.
