- While trying to convert an .AU file to something my Replay 4 cart. could
- handle, I asked for help converting the file here on the net. One of the
- replies (sorry I lost your name) told me that the .AU file is a 12 bit
- Sparc station file. If such is true, then when I ran the DIGISTUFF convertor
- file that turned it into an 8-bit unsigned .SND file, why wasn't the file
- size cut down by 30%? (In fact, it was the same size!) If there is some
- funny math going on, where might I find a 12 bit sound player to take
- advantage of the extra sampling? Or was that somehow done by the convertor?
- The converted sound quality is on par with what I expected from an 8000 HZ
- sample comprised of only 1.2 Meg, but lasting 6 minutes. Is a Sparc
- station's reproduction really supposed to be that much better?
