- I can go ahead and set up a Request for Discussion for some new Atari
- related newsgroups. What I'd like to get from you are ideas about what
- new groups are needed, what sort of postings would be appropriate, etc.
- If anyone has information on the current Atari newsgroup 'reasons for
- existence' (aka charters), please forward them to me.
-
- The proposal will probably look something like:
-
- comp.sys.atari.advocacy (Not. But the flame-fest could go here...)
- comp.sys.atari.announce (A moderated group. Good place for FAQs)
- comp.sys.atari.8bit (Keep the older newsgroups around, eh?)
- comp.sys.atari.st (Ditto. Charter expanded to cover ST'e')
- comp.sys.atari.falcon (It is enough different, once it comes out)
- comp.sys.atari.tech (Get rid of 'st' specifics.)
-
- Send me e-mail (no, don't bother discussing it in this newsgroup, since
- there will be plenty of time to do that sort of thing once a REAL 'RFD' is
- written up).
-
- I expect the RFD to be written up no later than 1 February, with a CFV to
- follow in early March. By April I can afford a Falcon, and the new\
- newsgroups will have been created (or not. It DOES take 100 more 'yes'
- than 'no' votes and a percentage of yes/no votes besides.)

- P.S. Feel free to suggest other newsgroups. I've checked out the Mac,
- Amiga and IBM newsgroups, and these are the more popular choices, along
- with .misc, .hardware and .apps ...
