- Hi! All ya little flamers out in c.s.a.s land how is it going?
- I wish to apologize to any one who sent me mail(like, right, we really
- sent you mail, like get REAL), my mail file was erased before I got
- back for Christmas and I don't know if I got any repys or letters on my
- old posts.
- Well its time to cause trouble for you all(i.e. read the subject line)
- so let's get it over with quickly so you won't be in too much pain.
-
- 1.) I downloaded Manix from the archive at umich a tried to list it
- with lzh(I think), now when I did this lzh loaded and then started
- to access the disk. After waiting half an hour, I reset the
- computer and checked the disk info -- there was no space on it
- left at all, now get me straight this disk only had lzh and
- Manix on it and was 800K when I formated it. I decided to
- delete this copy(I had another) of the file and
- glorybetellitonthemountainyesyesyesyes all the missing disk space
- appeared. I tried this twice more, each on a different disk, same
- situation. What happened? (If it matters I only had 1/2 meg
- on the ST I was using(figured if it was any bigger I'd use
- my dad's 1 meg ST with a single sided disk drive.)
-
- 2.)I also downloaded a few arc files such as Gaunt_ed, now on a few of
- these files I got an error message of damaged or encrypted info, being
- being optomistic I prefer to try finding out what type of encryption
- might be used that way and how to test the file for that,(i.e. I want to
- find out if i need to decoded the file first and how to do so)? Any
- suggestions?
-
- 3.)Any one know a way to back-up floppies, and/or how to copy all the files
- onone disk to a larger disk without switching disks 1000000+ times. I've
- been using a ramdisk, but the larger the disk the slower the file is read.
- (esp when using the max disk you can use before the computer bombs(got some
- mighty big files there people!)?
- 4.)I've been wanting to catalog all my disks, and do to the fact that many
- of my disks are single-sided and many are double-sided, I have a problem,
- I need to use FMC.prg to get my drive to work correctly(Forced Media Change)
- but the ST does nt ever realize when I use a single sided disk and change
- to a double sided disk. So, when cataloging I can't catalog both my single
- sides and my double sides at the same time. Any clues on how to get around
- this?
