- : Adam, why are you having difficulty obtaining a 40-50Mb hard drive? If it's
- : a cash-flow problem, I can understand that, but otherwise, they are readily
- : available from a number of sources. Just pick up a Computer Shopper mag.

- The problem I'm having is getting one from a UK source. After trying all
- the companies advertising such drives in the ST magazines here, I was
- greeted by them all with "sorry, we don't sell anything less than 80
- meg", despite the fact the advertisments claim they do.
-
- I'm trying to stick to a budget of #300 or less, and #150 would be taken
- up by the kit without SCSI drive if I went that way. I don't really
- fancy importing a drive (mostly because I can't take it back if it goes
- wrong), and the prices of bare drives in this country is pretty
- ridiculous.
-
- I've only been considering flopticals because they are CHEAPER in this
- country than hard drives, but I wasn't sure of their speed. Since I'll be
- running gcc/mint/tcsh then speed is fairly important.
