Hi, I don't know if this is the correct place to post this, but it will have to do. Maybe it should
have been in a law related group, as I would very much like to know what my rights to compensation are.
Let me explain.
In Very early November 1992, I bought an A1200 from Game store in Manchester. After about a week of
slight use, the modulator was producing rubbish on the screen, and from the start, the sound output
was totally unacceptable. I didn't notice the sound at the start, due to the fact I was putting it
through my hifi, and it tolerated it. I reported this immediately to the Game store, and they said, no
problem, and all I had to do was register this with Commodore and they would send an engineer round, and
fix it (I had sent my warranty slip off by this point).
Well, I rang commodore helpline, and reported it, and they said they would ring back within a couple of
days, and it should be fixed very soon.
Situation now:
I have spent over 15 pounds phoning commodore, every single time I am bullshitted about there are no parts and other very poor excuses, an example
Last Friday, I rang up, and the man at the other end, said he had rang through to the schedulers, and
they had contacted an engineer to ring me, to make an appointment. No appointment was made. I rang back just on Monday, and I was told they hadn't got the parts, and they should have them by Wednesday, and they would ring me back before the end of the week, emphasising I was a 'priority' case (just a small note, my despatch number I was given right at the start of all this is now too old to be traced on their computers... how convenient!). Result now? No phone call, no fixed Amiga, and one VERY angry custo
mer.
Commodore - if you are listening, I don't care if you have had technical problems, if you guarantee to
fix my computer in 4 days you *should* *be* *able* *to* *do* *it*
I get the feeling I have been messed around for 2 months, because admin people have made mistakes.
I do not believe for one minute they haven't received the parts to fix my computer....
Does anyone know if there is any sort of legal action I can take, or any sort of compensation I am entitled to? What are my rights regarding the contract Commodore include with their computer ?
- Dave (extremely annoyed at Commodore's incompetence).
