- Yeah, a couple reasons. Both were stated in the article. I'll repeat them:
- 1 - They only gave me so much space and a word limit. I had to draw the
- line somewhere.
- 2 - One of my criteria was that I was going to talk about programs that
- were fully enabled and not CRIPPLED. HamLab+ is a crippled demo.
- It limits the user to 512x512 pictures. If you want a version that
- doesn't have this limit, you have to pay money for it. That makes it
- a commercial transaction, in my eyes, so the version you download is
- a crippled version of a commercial product. On the other paw, Rend24
- isn't crippled at all. The version you download is fully enabled
- and usable "out of the box."
-
- We can argue this criteria separately if you wish. I left out many
- programs for both reasons 1 & 2 above. Leaving out a program should
- not be construed as any kind of slight or slap in the face of a
- program's author. Software authors choose to release their products
- in various ways for their own reasons. As the author of that article,
- I chose not to include crippled demos.
