- Whenever posting to a mailing list, always use protection. I went
- through my share of problems when I had over 26 megabytes of bounced mail,
- which only stopped because my feed's spool partition became filled. In order
- to stop getting bounced mail whenever you post to a mailing list, all you
- have to do is add this to your header:
-
- Errors-To: someone@who.you.don't.like
-
- As an example, you could send errors to my math teacher who gave me
- a B- because I was absent one day, so you would add a line like this:
-
- Errors-To: mj12@majestic.grudge.gov
-
- Or to my Amiga friends:
-
- Errors-To: tomas@dddmen.hola.sp
- Errors-To: carlos@vivid24.coming.sp
-
- Or to the President:
-
- Errors-To: bclinton@gaz.taks.gov
- Errors-To: agore@45.good.28.bad.gm
-
- Or to NewTek (for not releasing a PAL Video Toaster) and for not
- making it fit in a 3000 by sliding the endplate over too far:
-
- Errors-To: macweenie@whats.an.amiga.com
- Errors-To: christine@weave.been.kicking.around.an.idea.for.a.3000.version.lie
-
- Or to God:
-
- Errors-To: god@po.box.1.heaven
- Errors-To: allah@mecca.lecca.hi.mecca.heiny.ho
- Errors-To: buddha@short.fat.guy
-
- Or to me at:
-
- Errors-To: david_tiberio@amiga.lunet.ork
-
-
- Then all bounced messages will go to that address. It has to be a
- real address, I think (I will test a fake address and see what happens).
- In running my mailing lists, I have created an account called 'postmaster'
- where all my bounced mail goes. No matter what happens, any mail that
- ever leaves my site and bounces back will go to that address and no further
- unless the poster has not provided an Errors-To: line. If I am home I
- check my spool directoy and make sure all the large files have this line
- added, and I also add them to my own outgoing mail. I have learned my
- lesson about bounced mail a few months ago (Black Tuesday).
