- IF THAT IS THE WAY I WROTE THAT POSTING, I SHOULD BE SHOT. I KNOW BETTER
- THAN TO MAKE AMBIGUITIES. I USED TO BE A TECH WRITER.
-
- THE CAD PACKAGE IS PUBLIC DOMAIN. THE CAD PACKAGE WAS WRITTEN BY THE
- PHYSICS PROF IN TENNESSEE. IT IS CALLED ""MINICAD"".
-
- PAINT POWER IS ONE OF THOSE FORMERLY COMMERCIAL PACKAGES THAT IS NOW IN
- LIMBO. I DON'T THINK YOU CAN BUY IT FROM AT&T OR ANY DEALER. MINE WAS GIVEN
- TO ME IN FRONT OF A USER''S GROUP BY AN AT&T TECH WHO SAID AT&T DIDN'T CARE
- ANY MORE. TECHNICALLY AT&T HOLDS THE COPYRIGHT. BUT CONSIDER THIS:
-
- FOR A DISCONTINUED MACHINE HAVING NO SUPPORT, SHOULD I PAY
- SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR SOFTWARE THAT ALSO HAS NO SUPPORT?
- AND, IF I REFUSE TO BUY THE SOFTWARE, BUT WILL USE A COPY, AM I
- DEPRIVING AT&T OF ANY MONEY? I REPEAT, IF I CANNOT GET A COPY, I
- WILL NOT BUY ONE, THEREFORE I AM NOT SUBSTITUTING A COPY FOR
- POTENTIAL PAYMENT. A BUSINESS THAT MAKES SEVERAL COPIES IN HOUSE
- OF SOFTWARE THAT *IS* ON THE MARKET AND *IS* SUPPORTED - RATHER
- THAN PAY - **IS** - WITHHOLDING REVENUE FROM THE SOFTWARE COMPANY.
-
- Maybe this''ll start a "war" but them is my sentiments.
-
- Summary:: The Tennessee PProf might write something to indicate MiniCad is
- public domain. However, he is pretty busy and I have a hard time catching
- him even when I blow a phone call. If sosmeone feels strongly enough about
- it, you can call or write:
-
- Munther Hindi
- 571 Crestwood Drive
- Cookeville, TN 38501
- 615-526-5867
-
- He sold MiniCad via
- MiniGraphics Software
- using the above address.
-
- For Paint Power, you are on your own.
