  10. I am a new khoros user, using khoros installed on a Silicon Graphics Personal
  11. Iris 4-D. The operating system is Irix v4.1
  12. I am encountering some similar problems to those found in the "Frequently Asked
  13. Questions" (FAQ), namely
  14.  
  15. FAQ #30 - Editimage fails for zoom and annotations and replies with the same 
  16. error message as in FAQ.

  18. Upon checking my default visual using "xdpyinfo" it also turned out to be 
  19. class: Pseudocolor
  20. depth: 8 planes
  21.  
  22. Now FAQ #31 states that the X server supplied by Silicon Graphics does not 
  23. support the 24 bit Read/Write Direct color visual- so I can't change that.

  25. Another interesting problem is that some editimage features (window/threshold, 
  26. colormap) work under strange conditions similar to FAQ #33, that is
  27.  
  28. : view an image in editimage; get 8 bit Pseudocolor display
  29. : shrink editimage subform so Pan subform appears
  30. : when the cursor is moved in the Pan subform the correct greyscale image 
  31.   appears and also will be affected by window and thresholding
  32. : when in the Pan subform all other windows lose their colors as in FAQ #33

  35. So my basic question is can I get editimage and all its features to run on my 
  36. system to display and annotate 512x512 8 bit gray scale images?
