- Well, a while back the Hapless Technician obtained a file called 'ping.exe'
- from cac.washington.edu. It lived in a directory called /ncsa/pc. The some-
- times foolish Technician assumed that ping.exe has some relation to the
- well-known NCSA package, because of dircetory association. Buutt nooooo....!
- NCSA responded with a "it's not ours". (NO fault to them, NCSA is a good
- product for both intel and mac platforms.) Nowhere in archie-land is there
- any reference to ping.doc, (.txt .src), nor has there been any doc anywhere
- that ping.exe lived, that the Hapless One could find.
- As one might muse, ping.exe isn't working with NCSA hardware=packet configs
- on the SMC8013EWC NIC. It squeals annoyingly about drivers it can't find.
- WD8003.com doesn't cut, either. (By the way, the Hapless Technician would
- also view with great kindness anyone who has full doc sites for *that*.)
- Soooooo, where's the right stuff, eh?
-
- Best regards, G.
