  14. I have just installed a new scsi II hard drive, a Micropolis 2112
  15. 3 1/2" one gig. drive on a Buslogic 747s EISA controller.

  17. Most (not quite all) the bugs are out, however one thing worries me
  18. somewhat. Every so often on intervals on the order of 20 to 30
  19. minutes apart, (not too regular) there is a momentary sound from
  20. the hard drive that lasts for about one second (by my reckoning)
  21. and sound like the drive has been given a seek command. Is this
  22. possible? (By the way, the above reffers to periods where the
  23. computer has been switched on, but is otherwise idle during that
  24. entire period, and not being used by someoneone at the keyboard.
  25. The only thing happening is whatever internal loop Dos  does while
  26. waiting at the Dos prompt, or Windows does while wating for some
  27. user input.)

  29. MY only other thought is that somehow, whatever vibrations exist in
  30. the computer system, somehow get some resonance every 20 or 30
  31. minutes from some loose element in the computer? Is this likely?
  32. If that were the case, I think it would happen more frequently.

  34. Anybody seen this before???
  35. Is this potentially serious? Is there some line on the controller
  36. card being improperly triggered every so often??
