- The DRM-604 is a 600KB/s transfer unit. The access time goes UP a
- little in the high transfer mode. The ROM to ROM change time dropped a
- little 7s -> 5s.

-
- There is a firmware upgrade which is user installable. I bought it from
- Relax (510-471-6112) from $67.60. This firmware will change the
- revision level to 0804. After the upgrade, the DRM-600 will have the
- same transfer rate as most CD-ROM (150KB/s or so). I do not believe
- that the average access time is improved.

-
- I wouldn't think too much about the DRM-604 for "a while." The lead
- time on the units is still "way high", so there won't be much give in
- the price. Should be a very nice unit, but Pioneer needs some
- competition from 2 or 3 other vendors (NEC, Toshiba, Sony ya'll
- listening).
