  20. The DRM-604 is a 600KB/s transfer unit. The access time goes UP a
  21. little in the high transfer mode. The ROM to ROM change time dropped a
  22. little 7s -> 5s.

  30. There is a firmware upgrade which is user installable. I bought it from
  31. Relax (510-471-6112) from $67.60. This firmware will change the
  32. revision level to 0804. After the upgrade, the DRM-600 will have the
  33. same transfer rate as most CD-ROM (150KB/s or so). I do not believe
  34. that the average access time is improved.

  46. I wouldn't think too much about the DRM-604 for "a while." The lead
  47. time on the units is still "way high", so there won't be much give in
  48. the price. Should be a very nice unit, but Pioneer needs some
  49. competition from 2 or 3 other vendors (NEC, Toshiba, Sony ya'll
  50. listening).
