- VAXstation 4000/60, VMS 5.5-2, 40 MB's RAM. System disk is an RZ25,
- other disks include 4 RZ56's configured in a stripeset (stripe version 2.00),
- and 1 RZ56 off by its lonesome.
-
- The ROM version numbers on the RZ56's are like rev 300 on 2, and rev 400 on
- 3. The RZ25 I think has the latest rev, it matches all my other RZ25's.
-
- This VAX will not boot itself after a shutdown with reboot selected. In
- every case, it starts to load VMS, kicks out a message about waiting
- to form a VAXcluster (currently, it's the only node in the cluster), then
- it prints (DKA0 offline, Mount verify in progress), and then it's
- a goner, never to return.
-
- If I hit Halt, and do a SH DEV at the console prompt, no disk devices
- will show, only the ethernet device. If I disconnect the SCSI cable off
- theback, put on a terminator, type init, then sh dev, and still nothing.
-
- If I cycle the power (leaving the cable on) it won't show any devices either.
- If I cycle the power (with the cable off), then do a sh dev at the >> prompt,
- I can see the system disk, then I can just attach the cable, do another show
- dev, and everything will show up and it will boot.
-
- DEC has replaced the cabling, and they replaced the VAX motherboard.
-
- Nobody has any more ideas. Any thoughts from the net? Thanks in advance.
