- Some people think that work is defined as the effort one puts out to
- find someone ELSE to do the job or search the library and pass the
- information and accolades on to you. You're probably right when you say
- he might be promoted to manager, where he *has* to get someone else to do
- the work for him. "Hey, don't read, don't think; just look cute and
- get someone else to do it for you." Seems to be a prevalent attitude.
- I mean, look at the TV shows these days --the emphasis is not on physical
- or mental skills, but on how nice you look, how skillfully you can lie,
- (pardon me, I guess that *IS* a mental skill, and maybe even a physical
- skill in how you hold your facial muscles), and how well you can manipulate
- others. This is where our kids are coming from.
-
- Of course, this means that it is (ho-hum, another day, another dollar
- and another pain in the neck) our human duty as older more experienced
- people to warn these folks in a manner consistent with their ability to
- get the message....
-
- Right on, Mike.
