  22. You won't find Hitchhiker's Guide on an FTP server.  It is a for-sale
  23. publication of the former Professional Press (AKA the Carl and Dave show).
  24. These guys put out DEC PROFESSIONAL, VAX PROFESSIONAL, and their premier
  25. publication, RSTS PROFESSIONAL (I had volume 1 issue 1, once upon a time).
  26. Carl has apparently just sold out to a bunch of <perjorative term deleted>
  27. whose name I don't have.  I just discovered that I have lots of old DEC PROs
  28. laying around and tossed all the new ones.

  30. However, I still don't think they'll give away their farm.  And there's nothing
  31. (absolutely NOTHING) on that particular farm that isn't also in the big grey
  32. wall.  I read the Hitchhikers Guide, and while it is more entertaining, it only
  33. presents knowledge which is readily available in the DEC manuals.

  35. And "some students"... unless these are CS grad students with a VAX they can 
  36. reconfigure, most of the stuff won't be useful anyways.  VMS is very careful
  37. about requiring privilege of one kind or another to even look at the O/S space.
