- There is a list that gets posted about monthly to this newsgroup...watch for
- it.
-
- You won't find Hitchhiker's Guide on an FTP server. It is a for-sale
- publication of the former Professional Press (AKA the Carl and Dave show).
- These guys put out DEC PROFESSIONAL, VAX PROFESSIONAL, and their premier
- publication, RSTS PROFESSIONAL (I had volume 1 issue 1, once upon a time).
- Carl has apparently just sold out to a bunch of <perjorative term deleted>
- whose name I don't have. I just discovered that I have lots of old DEC PROs
- laying around and tossed all the new ones.
-
- However, I still don't think they'll give away their farm. And there's nothing
- (absolutely NOTHING) on that particular farm that isn't also in the big grey
- wall. I read the Hitchhikers Guide, and while it is more entertaining, it only
- presents knowledge which is readily available in the DEC manuals.
-
- And "some students"... unless these are CS grad students with a VAX they can
- reconfigure, most of the stuff won't be useful anyways. VMS is very careful
- about requiring privilege of one kind or another to even look at the O/S space.
