- Well, at least you HAVE a console. When I first encountered this problem I
- had ONLY an X terminal (DEC VT1000) and thus NO way to CDA VIEW PostScript
- files.
-
- The problem is that the PS interpretation is done by "PostScript extensions"
- in the X _server_, not in the CDA-Viewer _client_ -- and DEC did NOT put the
- necessary PS interpretation capability into the server code built into the
- VT1x00 series of X terminals. As far as I know, there is therefore no way to
- CDA-View a PostScript file on a DEC X terminal, and it also seems unlikely
- that "generic" X terminals would have the necessary DEC extensions either.
- (But I know very little about this subject and could be wrong on the subject
- of "generic" X terminal behavior.)
-
- I suggest finding an alternate X-based PostScript interpreter/viewer in
- which the client side does the conversion-to-X-image; I do not know any
- such software specifically.
