- I read a message (a good one) from David Cherlap (sp?)
- and I agree OS/2 is being blocked, undermined, and it
- goes further than MS. Case #1. I call IBM and ask about
- a ps/2. They said I have to buy a copy of DOS or
- I'm brakeing the law. It took a long time to get through
- to this IBM person I'd like to use OS/2 and not pay for
- something I'm going to never use.
-
- Case #2. My brother called up a company who sells this creative
- labs multimedia pc. They swore up and down os/2 would run
- with it. Look at how many people have posted question s about that
- driver MSCDEX which looks for DOS 5.0,and fails if it does not find
- it. Until 2.1 comes out, I have to use Win 3.1. Everything
- and everyone is on the Windows gravy train, and they are choking
- IBM/OS/2 with everything they have. I love OS/2. But
- if this choke hold keeps up, NT will corner the market.
- I don't think this is fair, I don't think NT has enough merit to
- succeed, but because the big ppowers are behind it, guess what folks?
-
- I think the problem is more than us paying for win 3.1 support.
- IBM is getting shafted. I don't know if the free upgrades
- 1.1->1.2#>1.3->2.0 hurt them or if it was something else, but
- I'm upset about it.
-
- I want a free upgrade like everyone else. I'm broke, I'm a student,
- but if it would save OS/2 from the powers of economics/bullying,
- I would pay for os/2 2.1. I don't know what the answer is, but
- these big people pushing Windows are crowding our freedom to pick
- the os we think best. That is only my opinion, and nothing new,
- but I wanted to air my frustration like everyone else.
