- I recently solved this problem for one of our secretaries -- the
- monitor's plug was partially out of the video output socket and red was
- not connected (blue and green still were). Reseating it fixed the problem.

- Perhaps you have a bad plug or cable and the pin or wire carrying the
- red signal intermittently disconnects.
