- Subject: Wanted: Information on (geographic) analysis tasks using GIS
- Lines: 41
-
- Efficient use of GIS softwares requires skills and experiences. This is
- particularly true when (geographic) models have to be used, and/or (spatial)
- statistics is used, and sensible graphics have to be desingned in order to
- achieve a task (goal). We are doing research on building some intelligence
- in GIS to smooth the process of geographic analysis using GIS by incooperating
- possible expert knowledge of geographic modeling, using a GIS software, and
- graphics design. Image a GIS which is capable of acomplishing a analysis task
- automatically or semiautomatically when the initial conditions and final goals
- of a task are specified by a user.
-
- Among other issues, we are compiling a list of tasks at present. And thus we
- are particularly intereted in obtaining information on the tasks acomplished
- and/or under consideration by GIS users in the large in the following areas:
-
- 1). environmental/geographical modeling
- 2). spatial statistics
- 3). graphics design
-
- I am asking your help in giving the information you might have, and greatly
- appreciate your support. Information for each task on the following aspects,
- but not limited to, are especially desirable:
-
- 1). brief discription of the task
- 2). the data used, and possibly the contents of the data
- 3). the known conditions and the goal of the task
- 4). GIS software used
- 5). the (geographical/environmetal/statistical) models used
- 6). the procedure used to acomplish the task
- 7). the difficulties encounted to acomplish the task
- 8). graphics needed in representing the results
-
- Information can be sent to me via email, or regular mail. I have
- provided my address below. Thanks in advance.
