- I have been participating in these discussions myself, but only when I
- could provide an objective opinion when I could do such.. Optimally,
- I would love to have an SGI machine, and yes they make great rendering
- images (just about anything from SGI is as such, throw in Sun, HP, etc).
-
- Yes, the Amiga does have lower processor power, and that's a granted given,
- yes it doesn't have the graphics engine of a workstation. That's because
- it's not. Results obtain seem to be comparable at times (i.e. final product
- etc.) Yes it's low end.. No, you can't network multiple machines to
- "collectively" process an animation. But it doesn't cost like those
- machines do. So many people here like what they use and feel a need to
- defend it, and that's not necessary. I suggest that the reason that the
- Amiga co-exists in the world with SGI, HP, etc. is that each fills a
- specific market, sometimes there is overlap.. I don't know too many
- people at home or work with their own personal workstation, but the
- software and hardware is like the difference between Apples and Oranges.
-
- (pardon any puns)
-
- The Amiga is successful at specific levels of the market, as are
- PCs, Macs, and SGI's.. No one machine does it all.. I would like to
- see something more constructive here, like moving objects, etc.
- between platforms. I know the products exist and integrating these
- things could be quite useful.
