  15. Quite some years ago, in my previous job, I travelled frequently to
  16. New York City with a co-worker who, everytime we passed an ATM of a
  17. certain brand and model, would walk up to it and punch in a few
  18. numbers.  You know, sort of like the people that absent-mindedly open
  19. the coin-return door on a payphone.

  21. After a few times, I got curious and asked why he made the effort.  He
  22. said that he had worked for the manufacturer of that particular ATM
  23. during college.  His job was at the end of the assembly line; he
  24. tested the bill dispenser by entering the secret code for supervisor
  25. state and then entering a diagnostic code that made the dispenser
  26. cycle through the dispense cycle as fast as it could go.

  28. He just _KNEW_ he'd find an ATM where somebody had left it in
  29. supervisor state after doing some work on it ...
  30.  
  31. If he ever does, there'll be a snowstorm of bills coming out.

  33. He never would tell ME the code, though.
