- You do not need to configure PPP encapsulation.
- The default HDLC encapsulation will work fine.
- The configuration command:

- serial 0
- encapsulation hdlc

- will return you to the default.

- You should not lose the physical connection, but it will take a few seconds
- before IP is reconnected.
