- I have two networks connected via fractional T1 (128kbps) using
- the HSC V.35 interfaces between an AGS+ and IGS/R routers. This setup
- replaced an older set of Sun gateways running Brixton PPP.
-
- I set the routers up using PPP encapsulation without realizing
- that it might not be necessary. My initial thought was that since
- I was using the serial interfaces, than I would have to use a serial
- based protocol. Is this true? Can I turn off PPP encapsulation.
- and run straight IP between the two routers. Without knowing how much
- overhead the PPP is adding, I'd imagine we'd see better perfomance
- without it.
-
- Now the important question; Can I turn this off without disrupting
- the network? Or will I loose the connection?
