  15. Recently I posted a bit of a rant fest about my frustrations with
  16. ISDN.  I would just like to thank everyone who responded.  Nothing was
  17. actually resolved but I understand better the cause of my
  18. frustrations.

  20. It would seem that I have fallen prey to the marketting gods who claim
  21. that ISDN is here and has solved our problems.  It is indeed here (in
  22. Japan its everywhere) but there are still problems.  I guess I was
  23. expecting a flexible plug-and-play solution (ala analog modems).  I'm
  24. sure that will come but it appears to be early days.  Also, perhaps I
  25. was/am naive wrt the goals/role of ISDN.  I know what *I* want to use
  26. it for but that does not necessarily map to other people's needs.

  28. From the recent postings it seems that many people are in roughly the
  29. same situation as I am and are just looking for *a* solution that
  30. actually works and does not require a mortgage.

  32. Anyway, thanks.  I have not lost hope but for now its not a reasonable
  33. cost/performance deal.  I await anxiously the day when I can run a 4:1
  34. (or better) compression scheme over dual 64kbit lines for a 512kbit/s
  35. connection to my favorite local and not so local hosts.
