  22. I have wasted a *lot* of time getting the Supra v.32bis/fax modem to
  23. work with my home-grown fax software.  I get random hangups and and
  24. handshaking failures all the time.  I've finally come to the
  25. conclusion that the supra is just junk.

  27. (Similar hangups and connect failures happen in data mode, so its not
  28. just bad firmware in one part of the modem.)

  30. I now have a ZyXEL 32bis/fax modem and it works much more reliably.
  31. My one gripe is that the "class 2" standard that it conforms to is
  32. vastly different from the "class 2" that the Supra conforms to.
  33. (Mainly the modem's "+REPLY" strings are vastly different.)  I have no
  34. idea which one is conforming to the more current version.

  36. Get a better modem, or if you are writing the fax SW as for a product
  37. think about not supporting the Supra.  It just isn't worth the
  38. aggravation.
